Argonaut Games has signed a deal with PM Studios to release physical editions of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos and Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos in 2027. The boxed copies are expected in Northern Hemisphere spring; the reported formats are a PlayStation 5 disc and a Nintendo Switch Game Card, according to Time Extension. No official price or specific release day has been confirmed so far.

What the deal covers

The agreement makes PM Studios responsible for the physical distribution of both remasters. The announcement matters to players who want to own a disc or cartridge: the games are arriving, or are about to arrive, digitally, while boxed copies will follow in 2027. The spring window comes from coverage of the announcement. Retailers may show placeholder dates, which should not be mistaken for a schedule confirmed by the studio.

The reported formats are a PS5 disc and a Game Card for Nintendo consoles. Retail listings use slightly different platform names: Nintendo Everything found listings for Switch 2 editions that also work on the original Switch, and reported that one retailer had opened preorders for those versions. That does not establish that every region will receive the same edition, date or availability. The report about PM Studios describes a Nintendo Switch release, so buyers should check the exact platform named by their retailer.

Price and preorder details remain open

There is no confirmed list price for the physical editions, nor consistent public information about stock, territories, box contents or possible collector’s editions. Retail listings can help track availability, but a calendar date added automatically by a store is not an official schedule. For now, the safest reference is 2027 and the spring window cited in coverage of the announcement, with no exact day set.

Argonaut and PM Studios have also not said whether the discs and cartridges will include the latest game build, require an internet update or come with physical extras. Those details can vary by edition and territory. Until the companies publish full product pages, the announcement confirms the plan to release physical copies of both remasters, PM Studios’ involvement and the platforms cited by the available reports.

Croc 2 returns digitally first

The digital remaster of Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos is scheduled for October 29, 2026, on consoles and PC, according to Argonaut’s official page. It revisits the adventure originally released in 1999. In the story, Croc finds a message in a bottle saying his birth parents are looking for him. His trip to the mainland turns into a confrontation with Baron Dante, resurrected by the Dantinis.

“Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos is the sequel to the multi-million selling classic, Croc Legend of the Gobbos.”
— Argonaut Games, official game description

The sequel keeps the crocodile hero and expands the setting to four villages, each tied to a Gobbo culture: Sailor, Cossack, Caveman and Inca. Argonaut highlights more than 40 open-ended levels, rescue missions and new Guardians. Croc can also drive cars and boats, ride minecarts, glide and use a triple jump. Those are features of the digital version announced for October; the company has not said whether the boxed release will include anything beyond the game.

From remaster to boxed release

The first Croc: Legend of the Gobbos returned in a remaster with high-definition graphics, updated controls and retro display modes. In 2025, Argonaut released the Platinum update, which added features such as Time Attack and extra content for Crocipedia, the game’s digital museum. The experience also grew to include interviews and development materials recovered with help from members of the original team.

The earlier physical edition of the first Croc was handled by Rock It Games and was delayed. In its 2026 update, Argonaut acknowledged that production problems and renewed Sony and Nintendo approvals delayed the discs and cartridges. The new PM Studios agreement is a separate project and does not, by itself, mean existing orders changed distributors. Customers waiting for the earlier edition should follow Rock It Games’ communications about their own orders.

What buyers should check

For players who want to start soon, the digital schedule is the clearest date: Croc 2 arrives on October 29, 2026, while the physical copies are planned for 2027. For collectors, the announcement adds the option of a disc or cartridge but leaves practical questions unanswered. Cartridge compatibility, sales regions, language, price and the final date should be checked against the specific product listing, not inferred from a generic title.

The portal’s pages for Croc 2 and Croc: Legend of the Gobbos provide background on both games. This article can be updated when Argonaut Games or PM Studios announce a price, exact date or details about the physical contents. For now, the key point is a new distribution partnership and a 2027 release window; the digital launch in October should not be confused with the later arrival of the boxed editions.
